MASKA is dedicated to creating exceptional clothes where yarn, fabric and design come together in perfect harmony. Each MASKA garment is crafted from natural fibers, carefully selected for their lasting beauty. The brand was founded on the Swedish west coast in 2009 by Maria Svensson and launched a year later. The mission for the founder managed company was clear: to design relevant, quality garments that transcend the seasons and to produce them in a sustainable way.
“I have always thought that something made with great care inherits something sublime, a soul.” - Maria Svensson, founder of MASKA.
MASKA makes beautiful, lustrous and luxurious materials and elegant design available to more people. Fine fibers, sophisticated styles and a sustainable attention to details empowers the wearer.
We use the finest, most versatile and softest materials with a natural lustre that stay beautiful over time and that tell a story. South African mohair, Peruvian Pima cotton, Indian silk, Nepalese Cashmere, Australian lambswool, French linen, GOTS certified organic cotton, Hemp, Long staple Austrian Tencel, German viscose and Alpaca from the Andes.
We favour sustainable materials such as organic cotton, linen, hemp, tencel and wool. We use no oil based fibers, apart from a little lycra in some trousers. We only select yarn and buttons that stay beautiful over time. All buttons are mother-of-pearl, corozo or vintage. Woven labels are recycled. We work with long-term trends, but avoid those we believe are short-holded. 95 % of our production is made within the EU. All knitwear yarn is 100 % Oekotex 100 certified allowing no harmful residues for humans or environment. We favour materials that seldom require washing, such as wool. Non EU suppliers comply with Fair Wear Foundation regulations. We use recycled paper and/or sustainable certified paper for hang tags, printed material, such as look books and flyers.
MASKA designs are available in 15 markets at about 55 beautiful stockists and appreciated worldwide through the web.
